WebObjects Development Support Position

WebObjects Developer needed for ongoing support and enhancement of a WebObjects Application. The majority of work initially will be Form development and changes to the existing code; however, at some point in the future, the application may be converted from WebObjects to PHP, so someone with PHP would be a definite plus. Candidate must have a good understanding of Oracle and Oracle databases. Technology required:

• WebObjects version 5.3 preferred
• Java
• EOModeler or one of the open-source tools that can also edit EOmodel documents.
• Ability to craft HTML pages/CSS
• CVS or some sort of versioning system
• Oracle - need to be able to write simple scripts, usually to alter existing tables or populate data. Being able to write ad-hoc queries would certainly be a plus.
• Shell scripting
• PVCS is a plus to have as is Project Wonder, Javascript and PHP.

Skills needed:

• Analysis - need to be able to work with end users to convert their requests into something that integrates well with existing application paradigms.
• Database design / implementation - relational database modeling needed whenever a new form rolls out or major enhancements to an existing form occur.
• Interface design / implementation - need to understand effective UI for non-technical users and attempt to enforce some sort of consistency in interface usage.
• Application design / implementation - need to be able to modify or extend existing application architecture as needed.
• Estimation - being able to estimate work needed to complete requests.
• Production suppport - need to be able to dig into exception report emails and application logs to try and diagnose problems found in production.

The candidate can work remotely, but would have to be available initially (1 - 2 weeks onsite) for training and available on a weekly and as needed basis for phone calls to interface with the team here in Raleigh, NC.
